LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Amy Duggar does not want her three-year-old son to be around the Duggars family following their slew of controversies over the past years. I don't know if he's ever really going to get to know them, which I hate to say, said the 36-year-old mother.

The former reality star also spoke about the issues surrounding the Duggar patriarch Jim Bob, his wife Michelle Duggar, and her cousins. I hope eventually they can be honest and they can be upfront … but I don’t know. I don’t know, Amy said, according to People.

'It takes a long time to really trust someone'

Talking about why she wanted to protect her son Daxton whom she shares with her husband Dillon King, Amy said, The thing is with trust is obviously it can be broken in an instant. Right? But it takes a long time to heal. It takes a long time to really trust someone, she continued.

And so for me, I feel like that trust is completely broken. If you’re going to cover up abuse, then, you know, if you’re not going to protect your kids or your children back in the day, I’m going to protect mine, said the '19 Kids and Counting' alum before adding If you are struggling in any type of area, you kind of have to hide it and it festers up and it turns into, you know, something evil and monstrous. And so for me, I have to protect my little boy from that.

Amy spoke out against Duggars and their radical religion in latest docuseries

The scandalous family topped the headlines in May 2022 when Amy's cousin Josh Duggar was sentenced for child pornography. The recently released docuseries 'Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets' featured several family members and people close to the family who spoke against them and their radical religion, the Institute in Basic Life Principles.

IBLP is not biblical, and it is hurting so many people, that, if I don't speak up, then I'm condoning it, Amy told the media outlet while trying to make the viewers aware of what the religion was about. I can't be that person, I refuse to be that person. Everyone that was on the show that is speaking out, Jinger [Duggar Vuolo] and Jill, God's given us a platform. Whether we wanted it or not, here it is, she added. 'Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets' was released on June 2 and is currently streaming on Prime Video.
