Dana White's Contender Series Week 2 is the perfect stage for Billy Goff to shine.

Following a turbulent DWCS Week 1 that left UFC head honcho Dana White disappointed due to a lack of fight action resulting in only one UFC contract being awarded. Contenders are expected to ramp up the finish rate in Week 2. One knockout artist to keep an eye on is Billy Goff.

Fighting out of Groton, Connecticut, 24-year-old Goff (7-2) is a 2-division (welterweight and middleweight) CES champion, as well as the former welterweight champ of Cage Titans FC. He has finished five of his seven wins by KO/TKO, with two wins coming by decision.

In Week 2 of DWCS, Goff will fight as a welterweight against Israeli fighter Shimon Assassin Smotritsky (8-1). Smotritsky is no stranger to the DWCS limelight, having previously appeared on DWCS in Octo. 2021, which resulted in a submission loss to opponent Mike Proper Malott. He has fought just once since then, for the Russian Cagefighting Championship on 18 December 2021, where he won via TKO.

Billy Goff will look to make a statement at DWCS when he fights Shimon Smotritsky for a UFC contract

Goff has fought and won in both of his two Bellator bouts, as well. His first Bellator fight was on Feb. 15, 2019, against Ryan Hardy Evans, whom he defeated by unanimous decision. His second was on Dec. 10, 2020, against Robson Gracie, Jr. whom he defeated by TKO via punches and elbows.

Riding a five-fight win streak—with two KO/TKO finishes in 2022 alone—Goff is in an excellent spot to put on a great show for White, and earn himself a UFC contract on the Contender Series.

Dana White's Contender Series takes place on Tuesday nights from the UFC APEX and can be watched on ESPN+ live. Follow along with FanSided MMA for all your results and highlights.
