NFL disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson is recommending that Deshaun Watson receives a six-game suspension for violating the personal conduct policy. Here are suspensions that are longer than Watson's.

For the better part of the year, the NFL world was waiting on a decision regarding what type of punishment Deshaun Watson would receive after multiple women accused him of sexual assault and misconduct. Multiple reports indicated that a decision would be made by NFL disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson on Monday morning.

When Monday morning arrived, it was announced that Robinson is recommending that Watson receive a six-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy. It is important to note that this decision is not final, as the NFL has three days to appeal the ruling.

If the ruling is to stand, just take a look at some of the other suspensions handed out over the years that are longer than what Watson were to receive.

Deshaun Watson's recommended suspension is shorter than these examples

The one suspension that has been compared to Watson's is that of Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley. This past year, the NFL handed Ridley a suspension for at least the entirety of the 2022 season after it was found that he gambled on games after he stepped away from the NFL last year. He reportedly placed a three-team, five-team, and eight-team parlay totaling $1,500, all of which featured the Falcons winning.

Watson, meanwhile, faced 24 civil lawsuits and criminal charges for allegations of sexual misconduct brought up by a variety of massage therapists. The criminal charges were dropped back in March, which led to his trade to the Browns.

Meanwhile, a New York Times report that dropped this past June said that Watson received massages from 66 different women in a 17-month span. Some of the women spoke of their encounters with Watson in said report.

Ahead of the suspension, Watson had settled with 20 of the 24 civil lawsuits. But on the morning that his suspension recommendation was announced, it was revealed that Watson had settled three more cases, leaving one remaining.

This saga is far from over, but seeing the amount of games that Watson is being recommended to sit out this upcoming season is not sitting well with some NFL fans.
