The Alabama Crimson Tide would need about five miracles to happen for them to make it into the College Football Playoff.

The Alabama Crimson Tide lost their first game of the season to the Tennessee Volunteers by the score of 52-49. For the Crimson Tide, they had to avoid losing another game to have a clear path to the College Football Playoff. But in Week 10, that didn't happen, as they lost 32-31 to the LSU Tigers.

In the second rankings released by the College Football Playoff, the Crimson Tide fell down to the ninth spot, after being placed at the sixth spot the week prior.

Given that the Crimson Tide have two losses on the year, they are out of the Playoff picture, right? Well, there may be a shot, but they would need five miracles to happen.

Miracles Alabama needs to make it in the College Football Playoff

1. Chaos in the SEC West

As mentioned earlier, LSU upset Alabama after head coach Brian Kelly called for a two-point conversion in overtime, and quarterback Jayden Daniels made a successful pass to Mason Taylor. But, LSU falling down the stretch could help clear a path for Alabama.

Say, if the Tigers lose to both the Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas A&M Aggies, that could hypothetically set the stage for Alabama to make it into the SEC Championship Game. Of course, the Tide will have to win their final three games of the season against the Ole Miss Rebels, Austin Peay Governors, and Auburn Tigers.

Then, the Tide would have to defeat Georgia in the SEC title game.

2. Pac-12 cannibalizes itself

The Pac-12 is shaping up to be a wild competition for the conference crown. The Oregon Ducks sit at the No. 6 spot in the latest rankings, with the USC Trojans being ranked at No. 8. There would need to be chaos to benefit Alabama.

First things first, USC would have to beat the UCLA Bruins in Week 12. Yet, they have to play a Notre Dame team in their season finale that handed Clemson their first loss of the season. So, USC would have to lose that. But then, the chaos truly kicks in if USC defeats Oregon in the Pac-12 title game.

Tide fans, root for the chaos.

3. Tennessee loses to one of South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Mizzou

Alabama needs to root for the first team that beat them this season in Tennessee to lose a game. The problem with that is, the Volunteers have such an easy schedule for the final three weeks of the season.

Tennessee takes on the Missouri Tigers in Week 11, a team that put Georgia on upset alert earlier in the season. Then, they face the South Carolina Gamecocks in Week 12. To end off their season, the Vols face the Vanderbilt Commodores, who haven't won a game since Sept. 17.

Alabama needs Tennessee to lose one of these games. But, that could be asking for too much.

4. TCU loses to Texas and in Big-12 Championship

The Horned Frogs made the jump from No. 7 to No. 4 in the latest rankings, as they are one of the lone undefeated teams in the nation. They are competing in the Big-12, which is notorious for their close games. TCU is in a position where if they lose one game, they could get bounced from Playoff contention altogether.

This week, the Horned Frogs take on the No. 18 Texas Longhorns in primetime. If they are to lose that game and, say, lose to their opponent who has one of the two highest winning percentages in conference games in the Big-12 Championship Game, that could help Alabama.

5. Michigan loses to Illinois and Ohio State

The Michigan Wolverines are one of two undefeated teams in the Big Ten. This past week, they were on upset alert this past week against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at halftime, but pulled away for a huge win. They are in a position to make a run to the Playoff for the second year in a row, but that all could change in the coming weeks.

They have a big meeting against the Ohio State Buckeyes, who have also yet to lose a game, at the end of the season. Not to mention they face the No. 21 Illinois team in Week 12.

For Alabama, they need to root for Ohio State and Illinois to pick up wins against Michigan.

Again, this is all unlikely to happen. But, you never know.
